3 EASY-TO-BAKE RECIPES FOR YOUR SWEET TOOTH
One thing about me is I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. Especially during the beginning of fall when the store shelves are stocked with your favorite candy and sweet treats. I’ve recently given baking a try and honestly there's nothing like the smell of a yummy treat baking in the oven on a cool fall day. I’ve found so many amazing recipes that only require a few ingredients so here are my absolute favorites to satisfy your sweets craving!
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE MUFFINS
I recently discovered this recipe from an influencer I follow on Instagram and it is so good that I’ve been making them almost every week!! My boyfriend also loves them and they make the apartment smell amazing as you cook them. They are so yummy and filling and also the perfect breakfast treat.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
½ tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
½ cup of cold butter
½ cup sugar + extra to sprinkle on top before baking
1 cup milk
2 cups of chopped strawberries
Directions: In a large mixing bowl sift your flour, salt and baking powder. Cut butter into small pieces and mix it in the flour until crumbly. Stir in sugar then add milk and stir until combined. Chop strawberries into halves and fold into flour mixture. Spoon into a greased cupcake pan. Bake at 400 for 20 mins. Let cool for 10 minutes before eating.
BANANA BREAD
This is one of my favorite recipes because all it takes is a couple over ripe bananas and a few other ingredients which you probably already have in your cupboard. I usually stick to the simple recipe, but you can also add additional ingredients like nuts, chocolate chips or blueberries for even more flavor.
Ingredients:
8x4-inch loaf pan
2 to 3 medium overripe bananas, peeled
⅓ cup butter (melted)
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
¾ cup sugar
1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until completely smooth. Stir in the melted butter. Mix in the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix in the flour. Pour the batter into your greased loaf pan. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes at 350 degrees F. Use a toothpick and insert into the center to check bake time. If the toothpick comes out clean, it is ready to come out of the oven. Cool and serve.
PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
I’m a lover of anything with peanut butter and when I tried these cookies, there was no going back. The perfect treat to make for company or for a little after dinner treat. These cookies are super easy to make and the perfect sweet treat if you love peanut butter.
Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
Directions: Beat butter, peanut butter, sugar and brown sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in the eggs. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl. Stir into the butter mixture until dough is combined. Chill cookie dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with a fork. Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool on the baking sheet before serving.
I am still on the hunt for some healthier options to satisfy my sweet tooth, but for now - enjoy these yummy treats this fall season!!
