DIY FESTIVE COCKTAILS
To be honest, I am a terrible cook so my contribution to the holidays is always a fun cocktail! Every Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve I always make some sort of festive cocktail for my family. I love trying new ideas and of course I get all the DIY inspo from TikTok and Instagram. Below, I listed some of my favorite cocktails you can make for your family and friends this holiday season…

Who doesn’t love a good espresso martini?! My go-to for a fun night out in the city. On the rim of a cocktail class, add caramel and brown sugar. In a shaker with ice, add 2 oz of vodka, 2 oz baileys, 1 oz coffee liqueur, 2 tsp gingerbread spice, and 2 oz of espresso. Shake and pour into the glass. For some extra fun, you can add whipped cream, gingerbread spice and crumbled gingerbread cookies on top.

This is the one I am going to try to make for my family Christmas Eve. Who doesn’t love the taste of Christmas cookies? Rim the cocktail glass with vanilla frosting and colored sprinkles. In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 and ½ oz of vanilla vodka, 1 and ½ oz irish cream, 2 oz of whole milk, 1 oz amaretto, 1 tsp powdered sugar and ice. Close the lid and shake for at least 15 seconds. Pour into the prepared glass and enjoy!

My grandmother’s favorite drink was always a white russian and I can’t wait to try this holiday one with eggnog!! Start with a short glass with one large ice cube. Add in 1.5 oz vanilla vodka, 1 oz coffee liqueur, and ½ oz amaretto liqueur. Mix together with a bar spoon. Next froth about 2 oz of eggnog. Pour frothed eggnog on top, using a spoon if needed. Garnish with nutmeg or a dash of cinnamon on top.

This drink is normally prepared with rye whisky or bourbon, but you can substitute for any alcohol you’d like. Add the liquor of choice, 1 and ½ oz orange juice, 1 oz ginger syrup, and 1 and ½ oz cranberry juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into a tall cocktail glass with ice. Garnish with an orange wedge and fresh cranberries.

There’s nothing like some hot chocolate in the winter and I can’t wait to try this boozy hot cocoa dessert recipe. For the rim of the mug, melt ¼ cups of chocolate and dip the top of the mug. Using a medium cookie scoop, add a few scoops of vanilla ice cream into the mug. Pour 2 cups of hot chocolate and ½ cup of baileys on top of the ice cream. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with any extra chocolate shavings.

Mimosas are always a fun and festive drink to enjoy on New Years Day or whenever. This cranberry mimosa is SO delicious. In a champagne flute, combine 2 oz of cranberry juice and 1 oz of pineapple orange juice. Top with 3 oz sparkly wine and garnish with 2-3 frozen cranberries, an orange twist and a small sprig of mint.
You can enjoy all these recipes with or without alcohol for some holiday fun. Cheers!
