MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS
First off, I think it is super important to sit down and write a list of things that you want to work on this year. Making a list of all the resolutions you want to achieve is the easiest way to make them a strong focus for the year to come. It is always nice to also think about the areas in your life that you may want to change or grow in. Common focuses for new years resolutions are family and friends, health and wellness, and work-life balance.
When making your list, make sure to be realistic with your goals so that it is easier to attain them and you feel more accomplished when you stick to them. Writing things down is super helpful to have a clear mind going into it. I like to write my list of resolutions then add three things that I can do in order to stick to the goal. Make these concrete. For example, instead of saying “I want to eat healthier” make a concrete list of meals you will make yourself. Making a game plan helps make the goal more achievable. Keeping track of your goals in a notebook is another useful tool. When you are consistently focusing on the goals and being reminded of them, it helps create the habit. I think tracking your progress not only helps you stay on track but shows you whether what you're doing is working or not. Another tip is to set reminders on your phone. I also love to create vision boards with pictures that remind me of what I want to focus on. Consistency is key!!
Don’t forget to be flexible with yourself. Sometimes we are way too hard on ourselves which then leads to us being discouraged and way more less likely to stick to the goal. Creating a habit takes consistency and determination but if you miss a day or two don't stress!! When you are feeling like you are having a hard time sticking to your goals, remind yourself why you started in the first place. I’m a firm believer in treating yourself so I think rewarding yourself after accomplishing goals and throughout your progression is a great way to force yourself to stick with it. I will tell myself that I’m not allowed to buy something I really want until I’ve stuck with my goals for a couple months. Giving yourself deadlines can be helpful.
Some examples of how to stick to specific goals are making them seem simple and easy. For example, something I wanted to do this year was wear really cute outfits to work everyday. I would write down what I need to do in order to make this possible. I set myself up for success by planning my outfits out for the week in advance. I changed a little step in my routine by making the time to find outfits in my closet and laid them out for myself so that in the morning all I needed to do was get dressed. In my opinion, loving your outfit every day brings confidence and joy. Another thing I focused on was eating healthy. I tried to be well rounded and balanced in this area while also not being too hard on myself. I made this goal attainable by creating simple ways to make it possible. Three things I changed in my routine was writing out what I wanted to make for breakfast/lunch/dinner each day, meal prepping such as cutting fruit and vegetables right after going food shopping, and giving myself cheat days such as weekends so that I didn’t feel like I was being crazy strict with myself and could enjoy my meals.
Think about areas that you want to improve in the new year and set your mind to it!! Don’t be afraid to try new things and be disciplined with yourself. You are the only person that can determine your own outcome. I hope this is helpful to get yourself set up for success!

"Prioritize my workout classes. Since joining Classpass in October, it has helped hold me accountable to getting a workout in daily. I am able to set up my week in advance, so my workouts are already time blocked in my calendar before making any other plans."
